He sings to me…

This morning… driving to Bible study with sisters… I lacked joy…

I didn’t agree with the emotions I felt… so I began to pull out divine weapons… songs of praise… prayer… thanksgiving… to battle flesh…

Earlier in the morning I read…

Look at the covenant with God we have entered into by virtue of our incorporation in Christ. In the Old Testament, the Lord says, “Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy” (Leviticus 19:2); and “I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God” (Exodus 29:45). The literal translation of “dwell” is that He “pitches His tent” among the people of Israel.

The covenant is repeated in the New Testament: John’s Gospel tells us, “In the beginning was the Word… and the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (1:1, 14). Again, the literal translation is “pitched His tent among us.” When God’s Kingdom is established in the New Jerusalem, God promises, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them” (Revelation 21:3). For a third time the root meaning is “pitching a tent.”

–Charles Colson, The Faith

The idea of His pitching a tent… dwelling among us… had great impact because bodies are referred to as “tents” in Scripture… temporary dwellings… Jesus even took one on Himself…

By faith in Jesus… the Holy Spirit… dwells in us… making us His tent…

So I praise Him… seeking lost joy…

I praise Him for dwelling among us and in us…

I thank Him for making His way into each of my children…

Then I sense it’s time to sing songs of praise… so I turn on the radio… the first thing I hear… Third Day singing…

You are the Spirit inside me

You ride upon the clouds

You lead me to the truth

You are the Spirit inside me

He sings to me through the radio… I hear you… I am with you… rejoice…

Eyes well… tears stream… as songs of praise defeat the blahs… and fill me with knowledge of His grace…

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
