All seems noisy… in my head and heart…
Driving along… listening to an audiobook…
my thoughts interfere… and I can’t hear…!
With a few extra minutes…
sitting in the car…
engine running
heater blowing…
rain pattering on the roof…
I sit seeking silence…
Not absence of external noise…
but absence of inner noise…
the silence of a quiet spirit…
is what I seek…
the place where He can be heard…
Finally…
the quiet descends…
heart stills…
spirit opens…
to listen…
